Guide
Dry fire app for iPhone.
Peregrine is a dry fire trainer for iPhone and iPad. Your camera watches a printed target, catches the flash from a laser training cartridge, and scores every shot: where it landed, how fast it came, and why it missed.
What laser dry fire is
Dry fire is practice with an unloaded gun. You work the draw, the grip and the trigger press at home, as often as you like, for nothing. A laser training cartridge sits in the chamber and flashes a red dot when the striker or hammer drops. That flash is the shot. Without something watching it, you're guessing where it went.
Why the camera works
Your iPhone already carries a fast, sharp camera. On a stand near the wall, square to the target, it sees the whole page and catches each flash the instant it appears. Peregrine reads the QR code and black corner markers on the sheet to map its real size and angle, so every hit is measured against the paper itself. No smart target, no sensor on the gun, nothing to charge.
What a session looks like
Tape the target up, set the phone at target height, and scan once. Pick Free Shoot or a drill and wait for the GO beep. Every hit lands on screen with a score, a draw time and a split, while spoken callouts and par beeps run the drill. There are 25 built-in drills, eight adapted from well-known standards like the Bill Drill, FAST and the IDPA 5x5 Classifier. Drift Diagnosis watches which way the dot moves as the shot breaks and names the habit behind a miss, like trigger jerk, with a fix to try.
Targets you print
Six target faces print on standard letter paper at 100% scale: Center Circle, B-8 Bullseye, IDPA Silhouette, 12-Dot Grid, Numbered Squares, and Six Cut Circles, which you cut out and tape anywhere on the wall. The tones are tuned so the camera catches the laser cleanly. When one wears out, print another.
One price, kept
Peregrine is free to download and try, and the par timer is free for good. One $14.99 purchase unlocks every drill, every target, the Drill Designer, and Drift Diagnosis on every session. No subscription, nothing to buy twice, and every future update included. It all runs on the phone with no account, so it works in a garage or a basement with no signal.
