Peregrine — Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 25, 2026
Peregrine is a dry-fire laser training app for iPhone, owned and operated by Tyler Beattie ("Peregrine," "we," "us," or "our") in Austin, Texas, United States.
SUMMARY
- No account and no sign-in. Training, camera analysis, settings, and History records stay on your device.
- No analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. We do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising or profiling, and we never have.
- Nothing reaches us automatically — not camera frames, training records, diagnostics, or support bundles.
- We receive information only when you send it: a support message, a support bundle, or a purchase.
- Peregrine is offered in the United States and Canada. Buying a license directly from peregrinedryfire.com is available to United States customers only.
ON YOUR DEVICE
Peregrine uses the camera to locate a training laser on a target in real time. Camera frames are processed on-device and discarded. Peregrine does not save normal-use camera video to your Photo Library or transmit it to us.
App settings and training History records, such as shot timing, scores, and related measurements, are stored locally, and you decide how long they stay. In History you can delete a single session, or select several and delete them together, which also deletes that session's saved target picture. In Settings, under History & Storage, Auto-delete after removes saved sessions and their pictures for you once they reach the age you pick, from 7 days up to 1 year, which is the default; choose Never and nothing is deleted until you delete it yourself. Deleting the app removes all of this local data at once.
History lets you add an optional label to a saved session, and you may type anything there, including a name. Whatever you type is stored only on your device and is offered back to you the next time you label a session. Labels are never sent anywhere automatically, and they leave your device only inside a support bundle you choose to export and share.
Peregrine does not collect your contacts, precise location, advertising identifier, browsing history, search history, or purchase history, and it does nothing to track you across apps or websites. It does not ask for your name or your email address.
If you enable iCloud Backup for your iPhone, iOS may include Peregrine History session records in that backup. That is an Apple service governed by Apple's privacy practices; we do not receive, access, or use those records.
WHAT CAN LEAVE YOUR DEVICE
Nothing leaves automatically. Three things can leave because you send them.
Support bundles. Peregrine creates one only when you ask it to through the app, and you choose where it goes with the iOS share sheet. A bundle may contain diagnostic logs; training session files and target snapshot images, including any optional session name or note you added to a session and the list of names the app remembers for that field; app settings and saved preferences; drills and focused sessions you built yourself, including any names and instructions you wrote for them; a list of the file names, sizes, and dates stored by the app; and basic device and runtime information, such as device model, iOS version, locale, time zone, accessibility configuration, system uptime, memory information, and MetricKit reports. A target snapshot image is the app's own drawing of the target with your shots marked on it, not a live camera view. Depending on what you include, a bundle can contain information that identifies you or another person, so do not send unnecessary personal or sensitive information. Support bundles are encrypted on your device before they are exported. Only we hold the key that can open them, so a bundle's contents cannot be read by anyone else the file is shared with or forwarded to.
Diagnostics. If you enable Apple's diagnostics sharing at the iOS system level, iOS may make performance or crash reports available to Peregrine through MetricKit. Peregrine stores those reports locally for troubleshooting and does not send them to us.
Support messages. Peregrine can open an optional support form hosted by Tally in your browser. The app does not pre-fill the form or automatically attach or transmit your session data, logs, device data, or camera data; you choose what to write and may attach one file. Tally stores the submission and makes it available to us, and we may receive a notification copy through Gmail. You may also write to support@peregrinedryfire.com, and those messages and attachments are handled as support records under this policy.
We use support reports and files only to investigate, respond to, and improve the reliability and security of Peregrine. We do not use them for advertising, marketing, sale, tracking, or profiling.
PURCHASES AND LICENSE ACTIVATION
If you buy Peregrine through Apple's App Store, Apple handles the transaction. We do not receive your payment details, and Apple's privacy practices govern that purchase. Customers in Canada buy this way only.
If you buy a license directly from peregrinedryfire.com, which is available to United States customers only, the checkout is operated by Stripe, Inc. as our payment processor. Stripe collects what it needs to complete the sale, such as your email address, your payment details, and the country and tax information the transaction requires. We never receive your full card number. We receive the order record and the email address the license key was sent to, and we use them only to deliver the key, honor refund requests, and answer questions about the order.
Entering a license key in the app contacts our license service so the activation can be counted against the device limit in our Terms of Use. That request carries the license key and a random identifier generated for that installation. It does not carry your name, email address, training records, or camera data, and it creates no account.
We keep order and license records while the license is valid, and afterwards for seven years, which is the period our tax, accounting, and dispute obligations require.
WHO ELSE HANDLES YOUR INFORMATION
Peregrine has no analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs, so nothing about your training reaches a third party as a matter of course. These companies handle information only in the situations described above, each under its own privacy terms:
- Apple. Distributes the app and processes every App Store purchase, including all purchases made in Canada. Apple is the seller for those transactions and we never receive your payment details.
- Stripe, Inc. Processes direct license purchases from peregrinedryfire.com, which are available to United States customers only.
- Tally. Hosts the optional support form and stores what you submit to it.
- Google. Delivers a notification copy of a support form submission to our Gmail inbox, and receives any email you send us directly.
All of them are located in the United States, and anything you send us through support or a direct purchase is stored and processed there. If you are in Canada, that means your information may be accessed by United States courts, law enforcement, and regulatory authorities under the laws of that country.
RETENTION AND DELETION
We delete resolved, duplicate, or spam support cases from our active support records within 30 days of resolution, and all other support cases no later than 90 days after submission, unless a specific legal obligation, security investigation, or active user request reasonably requires longer.
After we delete an active record, a provider may retain a limited residual copy in a backup or recovery system under its own documented practices, and Gmail messages moved to Trash may remain there for up to 30 days. We do not use records retained solely in provider backups or Trash.
YOUR CHOICES AND RIGHTS
Most of what Peregrine holds about you is not ours to give or take. Training records, settings, drills, and History labels live on your device, where you can read them and delete them at any time, and deleting the app removes all of them at once. We cannot see them and we cannot delete them for you.
For the support records and order records we do hold, you may ask us to confirm whether we hold information about you and give you access to it, correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete, or delete information you sent us. Email support@peregrinedryfire.com and we will respond within 30 days. We may need enough information to locate your records, such as the email address you wrote to us from or the order number, and we will use anything you send for that purpose alone. We will not refuse you service, change your price, or give you a lesser version of Peregrine for making a request.
Tyler Beattie is accountable for Peregrine's handling of personal information and can be reached at the address above. If you are in Canada and you are not satisfied with our response, you may make a complaint to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Peregrine is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child provided personal information through support, contact us at support@peregrinedryfire.com so we can delete it.
CHANGES AND CONTACT
We may update this policy to reflect changes to Peregrine or to applicable law, and the current version will show a new effective date when we do.
