An unloaded handgun
Use the handgun you train with, unloaded, with a matching laser training cartridge. Keep live ammunition out of the room and follow the maker’s dry-fire guidance.
What you need
Peregrine turns a laser training cartridge, a printed target, and your iPhone into a scored dry-fire session. Most of the setup is familiar equipment you may already own.
Use the handgun you train with, unloaded, with a matching laser training cartridge. Keep live ammunition out of the room and follow the maker’s dry-fire guidance.
Choose a red laser training cartridge in the correct caliber. It flashes on the target when the striker drops, and that flash is what Peregrine scores.
Print a target from the app on standard letter paper. Keep the QR code and black corner markers sharp, flat, and uncovered; black-and-white printing is fine.
Peregrine uses the iPhone camera to find the target and detect laser hits. Allow camera access when the app asks so it can start a session.
A stable phone stand or adjustable tripod holds the camera near target height, keeps the phone still, and makes framing easier.
A TRT dry-fire insert, dry-fire magazine, or trigger-reset device can reduce the need to rack the slide between repetitions.
